Rhenus Takes Over C. Spaarmann Logistics GmbH.

The Rhenus Group signed the purchase agreement to take over all the shares in the freight forwarding company, C. Spaarmann Logistics GmbH, on 4 July 2018.

The medium-sized company, which has its headquarters in Forst in the German state of Brandenburg, specialises in both customs and transport logistics services.

In addition to having its headquarters in Forst and customs offices in Forst, Frankfurt/Oder, Hamburg and Duisburg-Ruhrort, C. Spaarmann Logistics operates other branches in Dinslaken and Hamburg.

“C. Spaarmann Logistics enhances our business operations in two different ways: firstly, as a result of its extensive customs business and, secondly, through its transport services, particularly to countries in the Commonwealth of Independent States,” says Thomas Kaulbach, Head of the European Customs Committee (ECC) at Rhenus, giving the reasons for the acquisition.

Thomas Kaulbach and Bernd Stichel, Managing Director of Rhenus Freight East, have been appointed as the new executive directors of C. Spaarmann Logistics. The previous majority shareholder and sole managing director, Hans-Peter Otto, will remain at the company in an advisory capacity. There will be no change to the firm’s name.

“Securing the prospects of our employees and customers in the long term is a matter that’s very close to my heart. The Rhenus family business is a strong partner and complements the major focus at our freight forwarding company in an excellent manner through its key services in the transport and customs business,” says Hans-Peter Otto, the previous managing director of C. Spaarmann Logistics.

Thomas Kaulbach and Bernd Stichel add their comments; “We’d like to extend a warm welcome to our new customers and colleagues and we’re looking forward to enabling them to get to know the complementary portfolio of Rhenus services in greater detail.”
