ALS Customs Services has taken over the customs specialist, Delta Douane. The deal was finalised on 1 August. Prior to this, both customs experts had been involved in a strategic partnership lasting several months and had cooperated closely in the fields of customs clearance and consultancy work. As a result of the acquisition, ALS can now offer its customers an expanded network, particularly in France. Delta was most recently the custom broker’s exclusive partner in the country.
Both ALS and Delta Douane specialise in providing advice on customs matters and clearance for domestic and international customers. Their previous working relationship involved both a strategic partnership and several successful customs cooperation arrangements for French and American companies.
“The joint working relationship proved to be profitable for both sides. That’s why we’ve decided to integrate Delta Douane fully into our company. This will enable us to expand our network in France and tap into other regions in the country,” says Thomas Kaulbach, Managing Director of ALS Customs Services, giving the reasons for the acquisition.
“We believe that the takeover opens up huge potential. ALS operates in the most important countries in the world and has a market presence in Europe and on important global business routes – and we couldn’t get involved there on our own,” says Fabrice Raimond, Managing Director of Delta Douane, welcoming the acquisition.
Delta Douane has been operating in the French market since 1999 and now has offices at the most important European ports and airports. It has its headquarters in the French city of Rouen. ALS has twelve business sites in Germany, France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Switzerland. The customs expert was one of the first German service providers to obtain Authorised Economic Operator status in 2008.
